The Journal 

Epidemiologia&Prevenzione, the official journal of the Italian Association of Epidemiology, brings together many of the finest and most original Italian studies in epidemiological research and the evaluation of interventions for prevention and public health.

The journal – indexed in Medline and with an Impact Factor (currently 1.5) – is also an important channel for bringing contributions to the attention of an international audience that would otherwise circulate only within Italy.

Over the past few decades, E&P has served as a key reference point not only for public health, but also for citizens and their different forms of community organisation. The principle that inspired it was, and remains, that epidemiology is meaningful only if it serves the purposes of prevention and public health, and that prevention has very little chance of success unless it is grounded in sound scientific principles and involves the participation of all stakeholders.

Up-to-date communication methods, rigorous statistical and epidemiological methodology, the validity of studies, and the soundness of the interpretation of results form the solid foundation upon which E&P is built.

This is accompanied by a strong ethical responsibility towards public health, which has now irreversibly broadened its scope and increasingly takes into account not only human beings, but the entire planet and the changes that humanity brings to the world in which it lives.

The aim is that the provision of new tools for communication, information and training, particularly through the use of the internet, will make the journal not only a traditional vehicle for scientific content and analysis, but also a powerful tool at the disposal of a community of shared interests and values that cares deeply about public health.

2000 The journal is entrusted to a science journalism agency
2007 The first (partial) electronic archive of published articles is created
2009 E&P acquires Impact Factor
2010 Epidemiologia&Prevenzione becomes an online magazine, whilst continuing to publish a print edition
2025 Epidemiologia&Prevenzione is now an online-only magazine

The journal is 40% owned by “Società per l’epidemiologia e la prevenzione Giulio A. Maccacaro Impresa sociale srl”, 40% by the Italian Association of Epidemiology, and 20% by Inferenze coop. Società Benefit.

Who funds E&P?

E&P is not funded by any organisation and does not receive any grants. The journal does not carry any advertising and is funded solely by subscription [link a pagina “Subscriptions”] revenue.
